Space with a steady pulse
Under the Fluxion name, Kostas Soublis became closely associated with the patient, immersive side of dub techno. Vibrant Forms stands as a defining full-length: hazy at the edges, but consistently carried forward by a restrained rhythmic pull.
The record works through long reverb tails, low-frequency weight and small shifts in tone rather than abrupt turns. Its tracks leave room around each element, allowing the analogue character of the production to stay present without crowding the listener.
This edition returns attention to an album that had been difficult to find for some time. Heard as a continuous sequence, its design feels especially clear: each piece develops its own pressure and surface while maintaining the same calm, distant horizon.
The closing piece, “Opaque”, is a useful entry point. A firm pulse moves beneath broad synthesizer washes and textured percussion, holding propulsion and stillness in the same frame. It captures the album's central appeal: detailed sound, deliberate pacing and an unforced sense of scale.
